Drama isn’t confined to the octagon in the UFC. Sometimes, it spills over into the crowd. This is evident from a fan tasting of Arman Tsarukyan‘s fist at UFC 300. This fan recently made an appearance at International Fight Week. He posed a question with none other than Dustin Poirier present there.

The fan, a self-proclaimed Charles Oliveira supporter, decided to share his side of the story. He admitted to flipping off Tsarukyan, claiming it was in support of Oliveira. Hence, Tsarukyan swiftly attacked him. Poirier is known for his quick wit both in and out of the Octagon. So naturally, he didn’t miss a beat.

For those not in the loop, Tsarukyan got a nine-month suspension plus a $25,000 fine for his impromptu fan interaction. That’s a long time-out, even by UFC standards. However, Tsarukyan can reduce his suspension by three months if he records an anti-bullying video message for the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The fan was seemingly proud of his moment in the spotlight. He bragged about not pressing charges. Poirier’s comment highlighted the ripple effect of the incident. Poirier got the title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 but came up short and lost via a D’Arce choke. Tsarukyan stands as the next legitimate contender for the lightweight throne. Makhachev would have to wait till his suspension is over.

Dustin Poirier is one of the most analytical minds in the UFC. Plus, he has insane experience in the Octagon. The UFC veteran was asked about who he favors between Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsrukyan. His answer was as detailed and analytical as it gets. He gave props to the highly improved striking game of Islam Makhachev.

Dustin Poirier is a man who knows a thing or two about striking. He believed that Makhachev’s evolved striking could spell trouble for Arman Tsarukyan in their potential rematch. This was evident in his last fight against none other than Poirier himself. He outstruck Poirier, considered one of the best boxers in the UFC, in their UFC 302 bout.

I think Islam’s striking has really evolved. He has made leaps and bounds with the striking. Arman is going to have a tough time taking him down so I think the fight will be on the feet till Islam decides to take him down. I just think Islam’s striking is a bit more crisp…So if it stays on the feet, I am going Islam.

The Louisiana native’s money is on the champ. Tsarukyan, known for his wrestling prowess, might find himself in unfamiliar territory. Makhachev’s recent performances back up Poirier’s claims. He knocked out Alexander Volkanovski with a head kick. Tsarukyan has, however, remained unimpressed. Only time will tell who emerges victorious in the end.
