In a recent chat with PEOPLE, Armitage revealed his newfound passion for flying. He shared his exhilaration about life post-Young Sheldon, proudly announcing that he has obtained his student pilot’s license and has his sights set on getting his private pilot’s license once he turns 17.

Despite his initial nerves about taking his grandmother along for a flight, given her fear of flying, Armitage was pleasantly surprised by her calm demeanor. In a brave move, she even conquered her fear by stepping onto the plane’s wing.

Celebrating his 16th birthday on July 15, Armitage described the festivities as a mix of fun and tranquility, as he soared through the skies with his grandmother by his side. “We had a somewhat subdued celebration in the air. Then, as soon as we landed, we had a blast at the airport in Van Nuys,” he shared with a smile.

The young actor didn’t miss the chance to document this memorable experience on Instagram, sharing snapshots with his adoring followers. Looking back to February 2024, Armitage reflected on his journey with Young Sheldon as the show entered its final season, reminiscing about the role he first auditioned for at the tender age of 8.

When asked if he planned to take a break after the show’s conclusion, Armitage expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a long-running series. While he hinted at some well-deserved downtime, he couldn’t contain his excitement about diving back into acting, mentioning multiple auditions he’s been attending.
