The GOAT debate is one of the most endless debates in NBA history. Although LeBron James and Michael Jordan are frequently mentioned, there have been several superstars who makes and continues to make a strong case for recognition. Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is one of them. The young French phenom has wowed everyone, especially former NBA player Gilbert Arenas.
Now, Arenas is willing to pay up to $10k for his game-worn signed jersey. For context, Wemby recently gave his game-worn jersey to a young fan courtside. This garnered widespread attention from the NBA community as the fan supposedly put the jersey up for auction. Before this, Arenas already made an offer to the fan on his show, ‘The Gil’s Arena Podcast.’
It’s important to note that Wemby did not sign the jersey despite it being game-worn. However, Arenas’ remarks come because he thinks in the next 10 years, the jersey’s value will be on another level, especially if it’s signed by the Spurs star himself. Nevertheless, the jersey has been put up for auction by the fan, with many bidding for it.

With 3.3 three-pointers per game on 35.4% shooting, he is even becoming better at the 3-point shot. Wembanyama has demonstrated that he can be just as dangerous on offense as he is on defense.
Victor Wembanyama’s ‘one-emoji’ reaction to his jersey being auctioned
The 21-year-old Victor Wembanyama turned to X to express his thoughts on the matter, expressing particular disappointment at seeing his present up for sale. The Spurs player expressed his surprise that the little fan would give up his shirt so quickly by quoting the post with a single weeping emoji.

When the 2024 Rookie of the Year first saw the youngster wearing his tiny jersey, the tall center rushed to him and made a trade offer. One of the season’s most memorable off-court moments was created when the two posed together while holding each other’s shirts.
Unfortunately, seeing athlete gifts on auction sites isn’t all that uncommon. It is especially when the item is as expensive as a game-worn Wemby jersey. The choice of whether to sell the shirt was nevertheless criticized by some. Mostly, because the young fan might have remembered the merch for the rest of his life.
