At the beginning of MMA, there were very few rules and regulations, particularly concerning doping. The majority of them, including legendary Mark Coleman, used steroids. However, Rampage Jackson has never done it, which was a surprise for Coleman, a recent guest on the JAXXON podcast.

On the podcast, Coleman spoke about different things, from the housefire he survived to his fight career. Moreover, the UFC Hall of Famer admitted he and other fighters during his time had taken steroids. A surprised Coleman stated what would’ve happened if Jackson had used it.

You would have been a motherfu**er. You would have been fu**ing, you were great, but you would have played with people. I just remember locking up with you one time. I remember you were cutting weight. You were one of the strongest dudes in the world. Even when you were cutting weight, you were still incredibly strong.

According to Coleman, the main benefit of steroids was to train harder and recover faster. As such, steroid use would’ve made him a force to be reckoned with. Jackson was already great without steroids, and the thought of Jackson with it bewildered Coleman.

Nevertheless, Jackson admitted he once used Testosterone Replacement Therapy after he lost to Jon Jones in a light heavyweight title fight. Interestingly, Jones had multiple instances of doping violations and has even served suspensions from USADA.

On the podcast episode with Costa, Jackson enquired about the Brazilian’s Secret Juice. Moreover, he talked about how Pride FC never tested for anabolic steroids. Furthermore, the former champion revealed a doctor couldn’t believe he didn’t take steroids due to his low testosterone levels. Jackson had an interesting theory of why men now have low testosterone levels.

In the year 2024, a lot of men’s testosterone levels are lower. All men, all around, have lower testosterone levels. Some people say it has something to do with birth control. If a woman is on birth control and you have s*x with her, they say it makes your testosterone lower.

Jackson didn’t know the signs behind the theory. Funnily enough, co-host Bear Degidio insinuated Jackson might’ve gotten the information from a viral TikTok video. Moreover, Degidio stated Jackson’s low testosterone levels were due to stress.
