Jorge Masvidal vs. Conor McGregor was a big fight back in the day when both fighters were active contenders in the promotion. However, it never happened and likely never will. Nonetheless, former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal had some big things to say about a potential showdown with ‘The Notorious’.

Jorge Masvidal recently sat down for a conversation with MMA Junkie. During their discussion, Masvidal talked about a potential fight with Conor McGregor and why it never happened in the first place. ‘Gamebred’ claimed that the UFC wanted to make it happen, but McGregor did not want to face him.

The UFC has tried to make this fight happen, and Conor doesn’t want it. He doesn’t want the damn fight…  we’re the biggest fight possible. You think Michael Chandler sells more than me vs. Conor? Nobody in their right mind thinks that.

Even though both fighters are in their late thirties now, Masvidal still believes a fight with McGregor would be an exciting showdown. However, he does not expect it to ever happen claiming that the Irishman is scared to face him. Masvidal highlighted that McGregor has never addressed a fight against him and believed it was because the former UFC double champion is “scared sh*tless”.

Masvidal said a fight with McGregor would break records, claiming that he had been one of the biggest pay-per-view draws of the UFC in the last five years. But since McGregor would not face him in the octagon, ‘Gamebred’ does not see this fight happening unless he runs into the Irishman in a parking lot.

Masvidal fought Yves Edwards at Bodog Fight in Trenton, New Jersey. This was back in 2007 and Masvidal secured a knockout victory via a head kick in the second round. In his recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘Gamebred’ recalled the Bahamian fighter to be the only opponent he was scared for his physical health against.

I’m not gonna lie. It was the only time in my career where for my physical health I was a little scared and worried. I was like if I f*** up, if I get tired for a second with this guy, and he clenches me he’s gonna f****** rearrange my face.

Yves Edwards, also known as the “Thugjitsu Master,” gained prominence in the UFC’s Lightweight division. He was renowned for his striking and grappling skills. Edwards famously blended traditional jiu-jitsu with modern MMA techniques to conjure a style dubbed “Thugjitsu”. Edwards ended his career in 2014 with a record of 42 wins, 22 losses, and 1 no-contest.
