Sean Strickland is a polarizing figure in MMA. The former UFC middleweight champion has created a fanbase with his outspoken persona. However, he has also created a lot of haters for it too. Recently, PFL featherweight Amber Leibrock accused Strickland of Islamophobia.

Leibrock recently revealed she reverted to Islam. She received a lot of praise for the decision, along with criticism. Strickland, who was the middleweight champion at the time, apparently sent Islamophobic messages to Leibrock.

He literally [Sean Strickland] messaged me like, ‘I can’t believe you, as a woman, want to be a Muslim…da…da…da…da..da…da…da…da…da…da..’ And in my head, I was just like, Wow. Like, you’re contradicting, like, you are such an evil person. Like, you are really saying how you feel, and here I am just living my life, trying to get close to God.

Amber Leibrock stated Strickland’s ignorance was why he said what he said. Strickland had on JRE stated he won’t criticize Islam and Muslims after he had a candid conversation about it with teammate Albert Duraev. Even though Leibrock did not name Strickland, comment boxes filled with his name, and Leibrock revealed him.

The fact everyone knows I’m talking about Sean [Strickland] says enough about the dude. Lmao!

Strickland is no stranger to offensive attacks on religion and nation. He had recently made borderline prejudiced remarks on Mexicans and Brazilians as he called out Paulo Costa. Strickland’s upcoming fight is on the co-main event of UFC 302, but the fight might not be official.

Costa has had trouble signing the contract in the past. The controversy before his fight against Marvin Vettori is an example. Now, it seems he has not signed it to fight Strickland. The American recently knew about it and ranted against Costa on social media.

I didn’t believe it, I did not think you’d be acting like a coward. I thought you would man up, sack up, but instead, you’re acting like you got ovaries. So, I went on the Googler. I did the right thing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I went on the Googler, and I noticed something, man. After you fought Izzy [Israel Adesanya], you went downhill. You went off that deep end, my man. I don’t know what happened to that little pea brain you have.

Strickland is highly critical of therapy, especially for men. However, he stated in the rant that he would make an exception for Costa as he is weak. Nonetheless, he urged Costa to do the right thing and make the fight happen.
