A crossover between the NBA and the WWE all but spells entertainment galore. This rarity was on full display when WWE superstar The Miz joined the Los Angeles Clippers broadcast during their victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. The highlight of The Miz’s stint in the broadcast booth, however, were his controversial remarks directed towards Clippers star James Harden.

Midway through the 2nd quarter of the Clippers game, The Miz joined the commentary booth at the Intuit Dome with Clippers courtside reporter Lauren Rosen. When asked which Clippers player would make the best WWE superstar, The Miz promptly named James Harden although, with the added caveat of only including his regular season performances.

“James Harden, just not in the playoffs. Regular season James Harden is definitely a WWE superstar. The whole brand is there,” The Miz quipped.

The Miz pointed to Harden’s much discussed underwhelming performances in the playoffs as a reason for why he wouldn’t choose the superstar guard past the regular season. Although the Clippers broadcast disagreed with the sentiment expressed by the legendary WWE superstar, The Miz did clarify that he believes that Harden would be a pure entertainer if he was in the WWE.

The Miz was in attendance to promote WWE RAW’s debut on Netflix and its upcoming event at the Clippers’ vaunted Intuit Dome home arena on January 6. The Clippers ended up winning the game 131-106 in a game highlighted by the return of Kawhi Leonard. James Harden ended the game with just 10 points on 3-9 shooting on an off shooting night for ‘The Beard’.

Although The Miz chose James Harden as the superstar he would pick from the Clippers to play in the WWE, the Clippers star did not crack The Miz’s top 5. Earlier this year, the star wrestler was asked about the top 5 NBA stars who he believes would be able to play in the WWE.

Speaking on NBA Today ahead of SummerSlam earlier this year, The Miz unveiled a diverse top five of stars from across the league. He started with Tyrese Haliburton at No. 5, who has been a regular attendee at WWE games throughout his NBA career. LeBron James claimed the No. 4 spot, with The Miz lauding his ability to deliver under pressure.

Draymond Green landed at No. 3, with no explanation needed for the theatrics he brings to the table. Landing at the top two spots for The Miz were NBA legends Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, who have their own penchant for theatrical performances at the biggest stages. The Miz also threw in a personal nod to Cleveland Cavaliers legend Mark Price, recognizing his contributions to the franchise The Miz passionately supports.
