Willie McGinest has been served again! The former New England Patriots linebacker, who played in the NFL for 15 years, is being sued for a second time this year. He allegedly punched a man during a dispute over some gym equipment, according to multiple reports.
According to TMZ Sports, a man named Andrew Cortez has filed a lawsuit against the Patriots‘ Hall of Famer Willie McGinest for an incident that happened over two years ago inside a 24-Hour Fitness in California. The plaintiff claims during the alleged incident that happened on June 21, 2021, McGinest and three of his friends beat Cortez after they disputed over some gym weights.
Cortez claims that when he was using the bench press, someone walked over and took one of the plates he was using. The alleged victim says that he told the person that he was not done with the weights, but McGinest jumped in and said, “The f*** you mean?” before punching the victim in his face with a closed fist.
Cortez further claims that he was left physically bruised and bloodied after the altercation and is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit for the physical and emotional distress he went through because of the incident.
This is the second time this year McGinest has been sued. Back in March, McGinest was sued by a man after the former Patriots linebacker and his friends roughed him up during a nightclub incident that happened in December 2022. The 2-time Pro Bowl linebacker was fired from his work at the NFL Network for his role in the nightclub beatdown.

McGinest played the majority of his 15-year-long career in New England. He played 12 years for the Patriots and helped them to win 3 Super Bowl rings in that time.
The 6’5″ linebacker registered 78 sacks and 16 forced fumbles during his tenure with the Patriots. After his successful stint with the Pats, McGinest played three years for the Browns, where he accounted for eight sacks and 132 total tackles.
McGinest received 2 Pro Bowl nods during his career and was inducted into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame as a player in 2015. Following his retirement, he was working as a sports analyst for the NFL Network before he started to get into legal trouble.
