The fourth sequel to the famed action-comedy movie franchise Bad Boys was released last year. For its promotion, it featured two of Miami’s most renowned athletes: Jimmy Butler and Lionel Messi. The funny skit showcased an overzealous Jimmy Butler, who abandons his basketball dreams with the Miami Heat to become a “bad boy” alongside Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. However, as he goes through a hilarious series of training sessions, he decides to return to hooping for Heat.
At the time, what seemed like just a fun promo, now fans are wondering if the Bad Boys actually foresaw the messy divorce between Butler and Pat Riley‘s Miami Heat. If they did predict it, it wouldn’t be the first time a TV show predicted the future, as The Simpsons already has the uncanny ability to repeatedly do that.
I don’t know what’s worse, all this drama, or the fact that the bad boys ride or die promo literally called this months ago 💔 pic.twitter.com/D5xoNHxHTi

The promo is from 7 months ago. Although there is a lot of speculation, it wouldn’t be a stretch to believe that Jimmy Butler might have said or shared something with the movie stars on the movie set. The skit itself could have been Jimmy Butler‘s idea in the first place. Still, these are only mere speculations of fans.
But now, it’s clear that the writing is on the wall, and Jimmy Butler’s marriage with Miami is over. The Heat recently made it official that they are ready to listen to trade offers for Jimmy Butler, while also suspending him for 7 games. Divorces are always messy, and heartbroken Miami Heat fans would wish the end of the trailer turns out to be true as well.
NBPA calls Jimmy Butler’s suspension “excessive and inappropriate”
Tensions had been brewing between Pat Riley and Jimmy Butler behind the scenes for at least a month since December. Despite Jimmy Butler’s numerous ambiguous remarks to the media regarding his uncertain future with the team, Pat Riley, came out and assured that Butler wouldn’t be traded. However, things have gone downhill ever since.
The Miami Heat suspended Butler over “conduct detrimental to the team” and placed a seven-game suspension in effect that will last until January 15, while imposing $2.35 million in fines. The NBPA (National Basketball Players Association) has since challenged the discipline and filed for a grievance, calling the punishment “excessive and inappropriate.”
“The 7-game suspension imposed tonight by the Miami Heat on Jimmy Butler is excessive and inappropriate, and we intend to file a grievance challenging the discipline.”– NBPA’s statement

In the meantime, the Heat front office is waiting for trade deals to roll in. Jimmy Buckets is also biding his time as he prepares to move out of Miami for literally any other team. Butler has made it very clear that he can’t find his “joy” on the sandy beaches of Miami.
