“When you have best players, you have to compete…” Legendary Larry Bird pleading NBA superstars to ‘play hard’ before disappointing All-Star game is going viral

The NBA All-Star event is one of the anticipated events in the heap of the NBA league season, which shows the light and less-pressure events with a shuffle of the best players in the season playing against each other.

But even while it is just an exhibition game with the idea of pure entertainment, many expect there to be some level of competitiveness amongst each. At least that’s what NBA icon, Larry Bird thinks.

Larry Bird, expressed his disappointment in what was an already disappointing event and while shedding light on it, he said,

What I would really like to see is that they play hard tonight in this All-Star Game… When you have the best players in the world together, you gotta compete.

And sure enough, many had the same complaint, calling the event a rather disheartening show. While fans saw some brilliant moments, especially from Damian Lillard from the Milwaukee Bucks, who was on fire and MVP of the game, it wasn’t a grand event.

For the 12X All-Star calling out for more competition in the 2024 NBA All-Star game, one could see why an icon of a figure would get his words involved in this particular event. Nevertheless, it was a good show with stars from various teams combining, bringing intrigue to the game. But like many complained, it certainly didn’t live up to the standards of the hype.

Damian Lillard shines in NBA All-Star 2024

NBA All-Star was in town and the event was up and running to host one of the most anticipated games of the event, the NBA All-Star game. And if there was one player that shone all the way through was none other than the MVP, Damian Lillard.

In the East vs West game which saw the East side win 211-186 in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, Lillard was in a menacing mood. Scoring 39 points with a couple of half-court shots, the Milwaukee Buck’s player was named the MVP at the end of the game for the very first time in his All-Star appearance. Lilliard after his super performance said,

I just know you’ve got to keep shooting the ball and I think in a game like this, it’s going to be pretty loose and you’re going to get your opportunities.

While the talks in town will continue about how disappointing the event was with the assumption that the whole event is degrading year after year, there are always special moments that can lift fans mood. But in the overall scenario of the event, fans were left with utter disappointment.
