An athlete who has retired and taken up golf, the unbeatable game, is not a rare one. JJ Redick’s journey into the sport has been entertaining, though, because of how happily he has pushed it into his life. But a Serbian player just defeated the golf enthusiast. Luka Doncic has made a few appearances on Redick’s program and all the episodes were quite amazing.

When Doncic appeared on the Reddick podcast two weeks ago, the topic of discussion revolved around his rise from the NBA’s lower levels to the elite league. However, there was a clip that was posted separately and wasn’t included in the podcast. Reddick and Doncic were playing virtual golf, and the latter won.

The game was Pebble #7, where Doncic led off with a swing. Reddick arrived after that and mentioned that it was his first swing of the day. Where Luka Doncic said,

It’s my second swing of the life.

The big portion was when Reddick lost to Luka after his shot—it was only his second time ever playing golf—but they both laughed.

The Dallas Mavericks star contended that while Reddick’s shot was significantly farther than his, he was the one closest to the hole. Even though it was a healthy competition, Doncic poked Reddick after winning.

The superstar, Luka Doncic provides the ideal counterpoint to the reason he was first left out of former teammate, JJ Redick’s starting lineup. Doncic used X to retaliate against Redick with his signature sense of humor. Doncic’s clapback at his old teammate was amusing and snarky, but only because he used five emojis in his tweet. Despite their little time together, it also revealed the nature of their friendship.

Luka Doncic posted via X added,

It’s ok you were still mad I beat you at golf.

Upon being asked to select his starting lineup, Redick initially suggested Joel Embiid, Blake Griffin, Jimmy Butler, Chris Paul, and Vince Carter—all of whom were previous teammates. Doncic thought of voicing his opinions after he couldn’t locate his name, but because of their wonderful friendship, it was a healthy revenge.

The New Orleans Pelicans to Dallas, where he played with Doncic and the Mavericks in the 2021–2022 season, moved Reddick. He played in the NBA for a whopping fifteen seasons before bringing the shutter down on his career.
