LeBron James, superstar player of the Los Angeles Lakers engaged in a conversation with journalists before last night’s All-Star Game, where he marked his record-breaking 20th appearance in the yearly event. During this interaction, he shared a touching moment with a member of the media.
In the culmination of James’s press conference, the final question was directed to Jeff Zillgitt, an NBA reporter from USA Today, much to the delight of the Los Angeles Lakers’ star, who expressed his joy at seeing him in the room.
Zillgitt had recently undergone cancer surgery, as reported by Arash Markazi, and when James realized it was Zillgitt asking the final question on Sunday, the 39-year-old couldn’t contain his joy. He visibly excited to see the seasoned NBA reporter at the All-Star weekend in Indianapolis. He said,
First of all, it’s f–ing great to see you. It’s so great to see you, Jeff. Love this. And the fact that you got the last question is even greater. You tried to hide in the back, I love that as well. Love you man. Wow, it’s great to see you.
James had earlier tweeted at Zillgitt, wishing him a swift recovery without specifying his ailment. Following their touching interaction on Sunday, James provided a comprehensive response to Zillgitt’s question, sharing his thoughts on the increase in high-scoring performances across the league lately and acknowledging the plethora of “great talents” within the NBA.
