Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez returns to his normal life training at the American Kickboxing Academy. After spending over eight months in prison, Cain Velasquez was granted bail. Khabib Nurmagomedov, who reportedly wanted some time away from the MMA world, reunited with Velasquez at the gym.

After retiring from UFC, Cain Velasquez started coaching in AKA. Nevertheless, in February 2022, Velasquez was arrested under the charges of first-degree attempted murder and several other assault charges. Velasquez engaged in an 11-mile high-speed car class pursuing a person named Harry Goularte. The person molested Cainโ€™s son at a daycare facility. Velasquez rammed his vehicle into Goularteโ€™s car and fired multiple shots from his handgun. Goularteโ€™s stepfather, who was also present with him in the car was struck by a bullet and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

He then spent his next eight months inside prison while many MMA fans and fighters protested against Cainโ€™s arrest. Fellow AKA fighters Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov visited Cain while in prison. He was denied bail multiple times on the count of being a threat to peopleโ€™s safety. However, after eight months, Velasquez was granted his release on a $1 million bond and placed under house arrest. Gradually, Velasquez received permission to appear at professional wrestling and charity events.

He also began coaching at the American Kickboxing Academy and reunited with teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov supported Cain a lot during his time in prison and visited him a few times. Although Cain is free to train and attend events, he will be monitored through his ankle monitor and sometimes get visited by the authorities. Fight fans are happy to see Cain slowly acclimate to everyday life.
