Islam Makhachev is having a blast ahead of his much-anticipated UFC lightweight title fight against Dustin Poirier. While many would expect the champion to prepare for the fight with all the focus, Makhachev was recently seen on a jet ski. Moreover, it wasn’t that surprising as the Dagestani fighter is well known for trying out different adventure sports such as horse riding, motocross, etc.
However, that doesn’t mean the lightweight champion isn’t taking his fight camp seriously. Recently, former lightweight legend Khabib Nurmagomedov joined Islam Makhachev‘s camp and has trained him for the clash. The videos and pictures have since gone viral, and the dedication behind the training can be clearly seen.
Given that he previously battled Dustin Poirier in 2019, Nurmagomedov is fully aware of the latter’s abilities. Prior to the battle, Makhachev appears to have picked up a lot of knowledge from the Hall of Famer. However, that doesn’t seem to bother the ‘Diamond’ who has claimed to get a quick finish over the defending champion.
According to many experts, it might be Dustin Poirier’s last opportunity to get his hands on the lightweight championship. The fighter previously failed twice to win the undisputed lightweight title. Nevertheless, the Louisiana native remains confident in getting the job done this time.
