Many people have been wondering which team would be the best fit for Jimmy Butler as his story continues. Carmelo Anthony, a former NBA player, has offered his opinion on this. He ‘warned’ Butler at first glance to not play ‘any games’ with the Miami Heat president, Pat Riley. This is because Riley is known for ruining star players’ careers if things don’t go his way.
The Heat have plenty of time to find the ideal trade partner for Butler since the February 6th trade deadline is just four weeks away. In addition, Anthony also offered his insights on which team Butler would be the ‘best fit’ in the NBA. The former NBA player believes that Butler ought to join the Lakers and form a big three with Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Together, he thinks their big three will achieve remarkable success. This is a huge take coming from an NBA legend who has played against the likes of James and Davis.
Undoubtedly, an exchange with the Lakers is a compelling prospect. The Lakers have not been on the shortlist of teams that have been connected to Butler – probably due to the difficulty of paying 3 enormous contracts while keeping important role players on the squad in order to make a real run for the championship.
Pat Riley issues ‘stern warning’ to Jimmy Butler until his trade move
Players, particularly the All-Stars, have a lot of power in the league right now. A player has the option to request a trade or opt out of his contract if he feels that things are not going his way. Also, if he is not receiving what he wants. Miami Heat president, Pat Riley asserts that it is crucial to uphold the terms of the agreement they made. “And so, as players, they have to render unto the Heat really what is theirs too. While they go out there and do all these other things, you can’t shortcut it with us. And so, I’ve actually explained this to the players: while you’re under contract to us, you do owe us something. Your collective bargaining agreement contract says that. So don’t ever take that lightly,”
