Away from the UFC, an ex-heavyweight and a former UFC lightweight challenger enters a room. What happens next, one reckons? Well โ€“ grab a bucket of popcorn and find out as things just got heated. Ex-UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub just went scorched earth on pioneer gangster Nate Diaz! No one expected the polarising fighter turned comedian/podcaster to get this angry.

Last week, the fighter-turned-podcaster Brendan Schaub opened up about the debilitating CTE conditions of his friend Shane Carwin. The retired Carwin made quite the plea for better compensation given the rigor of his health; fighters revealing tidbits supporting the antitrust settlement are still on the ball. Schaub was in tears explaining the situation. Hours later, Nate Diaz took a personal shot and angered Schaub.

This is just internet gossip, this is getting him trending, he doesnโ€™t have a lot going on, didnโ€™t get paid for the Masvidal fight, probably doesnโ€™t know what heโ€™s going to do next. Conor, heโ€™s probably waiting on that. Conorโ€™s tied up with the TV [rights] dealโ€ฆ

Brendan Schaub has for long been critical of his โ€œpioneer gangsterโ€ gimmick. He also billed that Jorge Masvidal utterly dominated him until a doctor stoppage saved his pseudo act at UFC 244. Diaz edged out โ€˜Gamebredโ€™ย via a majority decisionย (95-95, 97-93, 98-92) in theirย Fanmio Pay-per-view headliner.

However, Schaub alludes to the fact that the 39-year-old had to file lawsuits against CEOย Solomon Engel for duping him of his $10m fighter compensation. Diaz is without money or a current fight booking. Hence, Schaub has a reply for the gutsy โ€˜cloutโ€™ chasing tweet.

I retired 15 years ago, man. That being said, thatโ€™s social media. This isnโ€™t real, because hereโ€™s whatโ€™s real: I will fu*k you upโ€ฆYouโ€™re no different than Colby [Covington] โ€” when it comes to this MAGA sh*t, โ€ฆYouโ€™re from Sacramento โ€” thatโ€™s your biggest thing. Thatโ€™s itโ€ฆI know tough guys from Sacramento. What are you going to do? Nate, what are you going to do? Volume-punch me motherfu*ker? Out grapple me?

Brendan Schaub further said on โ€˜The Schaub Showโ€™

Schaub ended up retiring in 2014 after losing to Travis Browne via first-round TKO at UFC 181. It was a moment that led to friend and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan having a moment urging retirement. But if the current trajectory is any indication, thereโ€™s still fight left in him. However, Diaz isnโ€™t one to back down, either.

The Stockton Slugger might have gone free agent and is hardly championship material anymore. But Nate Diaz was a slugger, delivering electric moments and brawls. He has a reputation of being the UFCโ€™s biggest gangster, and he holds on to it even today. But whatโ€™s a gangster to a sympathetic friend or brother? That would be Brendan Schaub.

The fighterโ€™s still inside Schaub, he says. If Diaz wants a fight, Schaub will oblige, even though heโ€™s not looking for one. He also did cue in that, unlike his โ€˜fake gangsterโ€™ attitude, if it were his brother Nick Diaz suffering CTE, he would have supported him.

However, gangsters donโ€™t give a hoot. Naturally, the younger Diaz brother was made aware of Schaubโ€™s โ€œwhat you gonna doโ€ comments โ€“ and took to social media to respond. He ended up using one of Schaubโ€™s infamous phrases from JRE in the process.

As far as Schaub is concerned, he has a lot of respect for what Diaz has done as a fighter. But that doesnโ€™t matter in this situation. Hence, both parties are prone to firing on all cylinders at once. Consequently, itโ€™s not like the unhinged Diaz would take that laying on his back, hat in hand.

In 2017, Diaz had a confrontation with Schaub over his thoughts on Conor McGregorโ€™s performance and called him names. This was during his โ€˜Moneyโ€™ fight vs. Floyd Mayweather. For the most part, the two have stayed out of each otherโ€™s lives, but this random feud seems out of bounds now.
