Ricky Schmitt is one of the producers of Sean OโMalleyโs podcast. During their recent episode on the Timbo Sugarshow podcast, Schmitt brought up not being invited to the party post OโMalleyโs loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. He seemed visibly upset.
I wasnโt pissed. I was sad. Don’t turn it around and make it look like its about me because its not. I’m sad because all these guys are up there and nobody said, ‘Hey where’s Schmitty, text message him’. Thatโs the point.

Sean OโMalleyโs head coach, Tim Welch said that he was surprised to not see Schmitt at the club. Welch stated that if Schmitt had texted him that he was outside the club, he would have let him in just like he did with all the other friends who texted him. Unfortunately, the producer was not ready to believe it.
Before UFC 306, a heated altercation unfolded between Aljamain Sterling, Merab Dvalishvili, and some of Sean OโMalleyโs friends. Schmitt was one of them. The tension started when Dvalishvili was confronted while interacting with fans outside the event venue.
Schmitt and others reportedly heckled Sterling, with one of them making a provocative comment about his loss to OโMalley. This led to a tense exchange between the two parties. Things escalated quickly prompting both Sterling and Dvalishvili to lose their composure and attempt to confront the hecklers. Security eventually had to step in to prevent further escalation.

Fans were quick to condemn โSchmittyโs fit pointing out that there were bigger matters to handle, especially on a team that just suffered a major loss. Sean OโMalley recently revealed that he will be taking a lengthy break from fighting due to an injury and upcoming surgery.
He plans to undergo surgery this October to repair a torn labrum in his left hip. He sustained the injury about 10 weeks before his UFC 306 fight against Merab Dvalishvili. OโMalley expects to be sidelined for anywhere from six months to a year, depending on his recovery process.
