Today, all other forms of sports took a back seat when the Ohio State Buckeyes entered Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Thankfully for LeBron James, the CFP Championship game was not on a day he had to play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Being an Ohio native, the 40-year-old has always shown support for his hometown team. He has witnessed the Buckeyes win one CFP Championship back in 2014. But since then, the fan in him always wanted to see his team win it again.

Two seasons ago, he lost his mind watching Ohio State’s kicker missing a field goal that would have given them an opportunity to earn a ticket to the CFP Championship game. Then on, the wait continued for the Lakers star.

Earlier this season, he saw the Buckeyes start off to a promising 5-0 record. Then ranked No. 2 in the nation, they went on to lose to No. 3 Oregon in the following game. James expressed his shock as Ohio State lost by one point and also gave up their unbeaten record.

But then, they continued to win again and showed the college football world that they were a legitimate threat. Entering the Rose Bowl, LeBron James was hyped seeing what his team could do as they got their revenge on Oregon.

After defeating Texas in the Peach Bowl, Ohio State reached the CFP Championship game after a decade. He was so excited that he even voiced the hype video ahead of the game. He talked about how the program is ‘Ohio against the world’.

LeBron James hyped after Ohio State stretches lead against Notre Dame

As Ohio State was playing Notre Dame, and on top of that he did not have to go to work meant LeBron James was free to watch the CFP Championship game in person. He did just that as he arrived at Mercedes Benz Stadium donning a Buckeyes cap along with close friend Maverick Carter.

He must have felt jittery when the opponents took an early lead. But in the second quarter, it was Ohio State’s turn. After tying the game, the Buckeyes scored again to take a one-score lead. Then towards the end of the half, QB Will Howard threw to a wide-open Quinshon Judkins for a third TD.

Cameras captured the four-time NBA Champion throwing his hands in the air hyping up the crowd with a smile on his face. He was ecstatic seeing his hometown team take a two score lead at halftime in a game of this magnitude.

In the second half, Notre Dame did try to rally back. But at the end, Ohio State ensured the CFP Championship was theirs with a 34-23 score. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar must be overjoyed enough to not tweet on X, as he heads back home knowing the Buckeyes are finally champions again.
