Head-kick knockouts are usually astonishing, but not when they end boxing matches! Thatโs what happened over the weekend when ONE Championship prospect Idris Abdurashitov landed a brutal kick to the face of his opponent. Idris Abdurashitov (4-0) fought for ONE Championship at ONE Friday Fights 78 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Head-kick KOs are always viral and fun. Kendra McIntyreโs head-kick shocker at LFA 182 was one for ages. But this was different. He finished in way of a stoppage in the second round. He was clearly losing and getting beat up by national boxing team member Bagher Faraji. At the end of some wild swings, he distanced 1-3 boxer Bagher Faraji with a wild head kick!
Itโs nothing to be proud of, throwing a head kick in a boxing match. One gets DQโd for mixing up MMA rules in the standup pre-boxing grind. Faraji had no idea the kick was there. As soon as it landed, he was out cold; he bent over and crashed to the canvas, and Abdurashitov faced a DQ.

Abdurashitov immediately walked to his corner and left the ring. Itโs likely the Russian fighter struggles to find a fight in a legitimate promotion after that dirty kick. Once the clip went viral on social media, combat sports fans took to bashing the action. Some subsequently called for a banโฆ for life.

ONE Championship is a multi-base combat sports platform that produces industry legends and standouts. Every promotion will face DQs like this. Not too long ago, Joshua Pacio regained the ONE Strawweight MMA World Title when Jarred Brooks was DQโed for spiking him. More recently, a fight at ONE Fight Night 83 ended with an accidental soccer kick.
But a head-kick, legal or otherwise, has deeper clinical implications. Ask UFC 205-pound title standout Jiri Prochazka; even an industry giant like him suffered quite a wobble in his title loss. Combat sports can be gutsy and full of stylistic bravado, yet weird. From grisly, โno holds barโ bare-knuckle MMA scraps leading to concrete head smash knockout. To even gimmicky 2-vs-1 MMA fights; fansโ cliques see it all. Boxing, however, has its respect as a more technical standup game, even in this fractured multi-blimp era. Many have thus billed it as a disgrace to boxing.
