As the 2024 election approaches, Donald Trump has ramped up his campaign efforts, particularly focusing on engaging younger voters. In a bid to connect with this demographic, he has been collaborating with popular YouTubers. Recently, Trump was seen aboard his private jet with the NELK Boys, known for their close ties with Dana White.

Trump recently did a podcast with the NELK Boys where he announced his potential collaboration with Joe Rogan. In the podcast, the ex-POTUS also backed White and Jon Jones as the greatest fighters of all time. In the private jet video, Trump called the UFC CEO and asked him about Jones’ next fight at Madison Square Garden.

Trump also compared boxing to MMA, stating that the former now feels slow to him after years of watching MMA. Having hosted boxing events since the 1980s, Trump was an early supporter of White’s UFC when few believed in its success. However, in recent years, the presidential candidate has shifted his focus and is frequently seen attending UFC events, reflecting his growing preference for the sport.

Whenever Trump appears at UFC events, he is met with enthusiastic support from the crowd, often greeted by loud cheers and anti-Biden chants. At 78, Trump remains a fan favorite among UFC audiences, a testament to his strong relationship with White, which has flourished over the past two decades.

Why Donald Trump likes UFC more than boxing

The debate between boxing and MMA has been going around for some time now. Many believe MMA is more competitive to fans than boxing because of its wide skill set and various disciplines. In contrast to the promotional obstacles in boxing, the MMA’s matchmaking ensures that elite fighters meet each other frequently. Shorter fights and more frequent title defenses increase the sense of urgency, resulting in more exciting and unpredictable outcomes.

Top boxing superstars are often focused on their record, which results in them choosing opponents to keep those stats intact. On the other hand, MMA fighters are rarely undefeated. It seems like all this makes someone like Donald Trump a huge fan of the sport. In a recent interview, the billionaire said the same.

I get to watch as much as I can. It’s highly competitive stuff. This sport is interesting.

Trump also used Kamaru Usman‘s shocking loss to Leon Edwards to encapsulate MMA’s unpredictability. As a close friend of Dana White, Trump is always invited to UFC events. If he manages to win the elections, it won’t be surprising to see him attend the upcoming MSG event.
