Islam Makhachev is scheduled to defend his lightweight title against challenger Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311. This event also features the bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov. As the coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently quite busy, but as expected, he is not that easy to please.
Islam Makhachev recently shared a video reflecting on the conclusion of a grueling training week. In the video, he mentioned sustaining a few minor cuts on his face during the intense sessions. Despite the relentless effort and dedication shown by the team, Khabib Nurmagomedov rated the overall week a 4 out of 5.
Since his retirement, Nurmagomedov has given all his time to coaching his teammates to achieve similar UFC success as him. He has been successful in this endeavor until now. Going into UFC 311, he plans to help Umar and Makhachev and bring home two championship belts.
😂Islam Makhachev shared a video on Instagram, saying he trained hard, but Khabib still wasn’t impressed, rating it as only a 4 out of 5 training week.

At UFC 311, Islam Makhachev aims to defend his lightweight title for the fourth time, creating a division record. On the other hand, ‘Young Eagle’ faces a monumental challenge against Merab Dvalishvili, an opportunity to elevate his MMA career. Witnessing the strategy, Team Khabib devises to overcome these crucial challenges and secure decisive victories will be fascinating.
How it’s like to train under Khabib Nurmagomedov
Khabib Nurmagomedov was profoundly influenced by his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who served as both his coach and mentor. After Abdulmanap’s passing, Khabib retired from fighting to honor his father’s legacy and stepped into a leadership role within his team. Like his father, Khabib is more than just a coach; he acts as a mentor and source of inspiration for his fighters.
Nurmagomedov emphasizes discipline, instilling a focused and hardworking mindset in his teammates, both in training and in life. Under Khabib’s guidance, fighters like Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov have thrived, embodying the values and principles Abdulmanap instilled. The current welterweight champion Belal Muhammad has also trained under the ‘Eagle’ and his experience was no different.
Belal Muhammad says Khabib was “toying” with him and throwing him around during training:
“I was like ‘bro I’m getting killed by [Khabib]’ and then all of a sudden I get the fight announcement and I’m like ‘bro, I suck’…
[Khabib] could come back and be a champion right now.… pic.twitter.com/PR4Wn37ZJ2

Muhammad has frequently discussed his experience in Team Khabib’s training camp, and how it changed his mindset. Recently, Nurmagomedov also welcomed UFC legends like Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo to the camp ahead of UFC 311. All these collaborations gathered massive attention from fight fans.
