Australia batter Usman Khawajaโ€˜s Test average had rocketed to more than 48 after 63 Test matches. A primary reason behind the same is him being the only batter to average more than 66 among the Top 10 highest run-scorers since his comeback into international cricket last year.

For the uninitiated, Khawaja hadnโ€™t represented Australia across formats post Ashes 2019. Been milking runs for fun in domestic cricket since then, Khawaja eventually got a nod over batter Travis Head during the fourth Ashes 2021-22 Test in Sydney.

Yet to look back in Test cricket in the last 18 months, Khawaja is the highest run-scorer, scored joint-highest number of centuries and scored highest number of 50+ individual scores in this period. Khawaja, who had eight Test centuries to his name until then, now has a total of 15 to be at the joint 14th position among Australian batters.

Khawaja, who had become theย 17th Australian batter to score two hundreds in the same Test in his comeback Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, had scored a ninth century in the first innings to follow it with a 10th one in the second.

Khawaja, who has already scored a century in the ongoing Ashes 2023, is currently the highest run-scorer in the series with seven more innings left to be played. As far as Khawajaโ€™s Test average since comeback in international cricket is concerned, he averages 66.24 across 34 innings.

All in all, Khawaja has scored 1,921 runs in 19 Tests with the help of seven centuries and nine half-centuries in this period. Former England captain Joe Root, who follows Khawaja in this list and has also scored seven Test centuries in this list, has amassed 1,647 runs at an average of 54.90.

Readers must note that the 36-year old player has faced six oppositions in five countries since the New Yearโ€™s Test of 2022. While he averages 64.20 in 12 innings at home, he averages an even better 74.47 across 20 innings away from home (in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and England).
