Paddy Pimblett had his hands full this week as Renato Moicano almost climbed the title ladder at UFC 311. The UFC lightweight contender also choked out a former Oktagon MMA brawler to settle a social media feud! The discourse did not win “The Baddy” any new fans for it.
Earlier this week, Pimblett put his burgeoning UFC career on the line to take part in a “smoker” showdown with a fighter he has feuded online with. The Scouser fought former Oktagon MMA lightweight Denis Frimpong. After standup exchanges, he scored a takedown and gradually worked his way to back control.
Pimblett worked a technical rear-naked choke and Frimpong tapped; but the aggressor never relented! Soon a marquee brawl broke out and others yanked Pimblett off the opponent. The UFC lightweight has a lot to prove and often touts his submissions grappling game; was this too far though? Check the whole discourse down below.

Intentionally ignoring a tap takes things from consensual activity to battery.
Don’t do that folks. https://t.co/5180sY6iYR

Always hated this clown. Anyone holding past a tap is scum https://t.co/ZXAeuIZC0C

The brash English star has been on fire since his 2021 UFC debut. “Baddy” has gone undefeated at 6-0 and is fresh off a huge submission finish of veteran King Green at UFC 304. Paddy Pimblett’s success has made him one of the most popular fighters on the roster.
The British talent is often prone to public skirmish, but this just wasn’t it. Prime online responses (@Sl_784) billed him a “knob” and “scum” for ignoring the tap. However, the UFC fighter is living to his own beat.
Islam Makhachev vs Renato Moicano: Paddy Pimblett’s furious live reaction caught on camera
The British lightweight watched from home as 155-pound kingpin Islam Makhachev retained his belt with a first-round submission at UFC 311. He took on late replacement Renato Moicano and won. Paddy Pimblett has cracked the top 15 and wants the part of the top fighters.
The Scouser also has had banter going with Renato Moicano for a while now. Moicano had promised to “shock the world” when he stepped up to take on Makhachev on such short notice. But he was out of his depth on Saturday night at the Intuit Dome PPV title offering in California. Pimblett had quite a furious watch-along on his channel.
The two have been circling each other but maybe it never made sense with both having lofty title dreams. With Pimblett even suggesting they could coach on The Ultimate Fighter. For whatever reason, UFC brass didn’t book them as a stepping stone against each other. Perhaps now, with Moicano’s loss at UFC 311, the two will fight later this year.
