Coaches play a major role in a UFC fighterโ€™s success. As such, the whole game plan and training sessions ahead of a fight are constituted by a coach. Gerald Meerschaert, a UFC veteran, talked about the importance of coaches while grooming a fighter. Not only that, but โ€˜GM3โ€™ also shares an intriguing bit about the camaraderie he shares with his coaches.

The training methods range from the hard and brutal way to train the fighters to others finding more lighthearted approaches. However, the ultimate goal for each remains the same: to produce the best fighters. In a recent podcast episode of Show Me The Money, UFC veteran Gerald Meerschaert heaps praise on his coaches. As such, GM3 even reveals his way of commending their efforts.

I’ve been around for a while now and when I got that it’s like I always try to look at it this way, you’re going to pay somebody, you’re either going to pay the government more taxes or you can give a little more back to the people that help you right and I’d rather just sleep better at night, take care of my guys, show them some love.

Per Meerschaert, he is making a comfortable living for himself because of his coaches. To compensate for that, GM3 shared his โ€˜Performance of the Nightโ€™ bonus with his coaches. GM3 sharing his bonus might set an example among other fighters. While discussion of fighter pay remains a relevant topic, one can only wonder how little the coaches would make.

One of the most humiliating defeats in Meerschaertโ€™s career was against Khamzat Chimaev. The Chechen fighter ended the fight against GM3 in just 17 seconds. After that, there were several instances where the UFC veteran expressed his dislike towards Chimaev.

As for his fighting career, Meerschaert is currently on a two-fight win streak and en route to shine again in the middleweight division. His most recent win was against Edmen Shahbazyan two weeks ago. Following that win, he even made an intriguing callout as he named Paul Craig to be his next opponent. However, amidst that, Meerschaert also shared some behind-the-scenes details about a coach.

We don’t have like a billionaire owner for each separate gym or team and on top of that like I’m not going to get what I get and win as much as I do without those guys and their knowledge and like their bodies…
