The world is a divided place when it comes to Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. The fight is set to take place on July 20th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Some people think Paul is too young for Tyson, while others think Tyson’s experience and strength far outweigh the 31-year-old age difference. Furthermore, Chael Sonnen, on the other hand, has a pretty good idea of why ‘The Problem Child’ will win the fight.

Paul is a celebrity boxer and has fought multiple well-known opponents. Many people argue that the boxer is at his prime, except for Tommy Fury, whom Paul lost to. However, UFC Hall of Famer, Sonnen believes that The Problem Child is actually a good boxer and even compares him to the man who retired, Mike Tyson. As such, Sonnen brought up Tyson’s 2005 fight against Kevin McBride.

Kevin McBride, back then that beat the hell out of Tyson and sent him into retirement. If that version of Kevin McBride vs. Jake Paul fought right now, Jake Paul would beat him.

At the time, Tyson was 38 years old and was past his prime, which led to his defeat. That was 19 years ago, and the former heavyweight champion has himself concerned about his health. This has caused several to believe that Paul will be able to emerge victorious.

However, Sonnen believes that Paul is better than McBride, which implies that 27-year-old Paul would be able to beat Tyson when he was 38 years old. This can be inferred because Sonnen stated that Paul could defeat McBride if he fought him in 2005.

On June 11, 2005, Tyson went up against McBride at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. Furthermore, the fight is remembered because it marked the end of Tyson’s professional boxing career. The match was set for 10 rounds, but it came to an end when Tyson failed to beat the referee’s count in the seventh round.

As such, this granted McBride a victory by technical knockout against the legendary boxer. Despite his display of aggression, Mike Tyson quickly tired out, indicating a lack of readiness. Subsequently, displaying signs of frustration, Tyson resorted to a move in the round by delivering a headbutt. By the conclusion of the round, Tyson’s stamina and desire to continue had noticeably diminished.

Following the fight, Tyson declared his retirement, acknowledging that his passion for boxing had faded and that financial pressures had driven him to compete in matches. For Kevin McBride, defeating Tyson stood as a pinnacle moment in his career, even though it did not pave the way for victories in the heavyweight division.
