Rose Namajunas beat short-notice opponent Tracy Cortez at UFC on ESPN 59. However, the former champion was suspicious of the weight discrepancy during the weigh-ins. Namajunas noticed a significant difference between her and Tracy Cortez during their fight at UFC Denver.

Rose Namajunas recently addressed this discrepancy at the post-fight press conference. She claimed that the scale used at the UFC Denver event was inaccurate. The former champion supposedly noticed a discrepancy when she weighed herself on a different scale before stepping on the official one.

Whoever is in charge of that, I need to talk to because that was very, to me was very suspicious or something didn’t feel right as soon as I noticed the discrepancy.

Namajunas felt that the official scale might have shown incorrect weights. This could have led to fighters either making or missing weight unfairly. Namajunas and Cortez headlined the main event at the Ball Arena in Denver. The matchup was almost in jeopardy as Tracy Cortez missed the 126 lbs weight limit.

However, she stepped back on the scale again with a hefty chunk of hair in her hand and made the required weight limit. Cortez was a last-minute replacement for Maycee Barber who had to step out because she was unfit to compete. The fight went the distance and Rose Namajunas walked away with the unanimous decision victory.

Rose Namajunas wants a title fight against Manon Fiorot in Lithuania

Rose Namajunas has been in the UFC for almost a decade now. In that time, the 32-year-old secured the women’s strawweight championship twice with a professional MMA record of 14 wins and 6 losses. However, after her loss to Carla Esparza at UFC 274, Namajunas moved up weight classes to the flyweight division.

However, the former champion’s debut in the 125lbs weight class did not go as expected. She lost to Manon Fiorot last year at UFC Fight Night 226 via unanimous decision. Now after her win at UFC Denver, she revealed hopes of a potential title fight against the flyweight contender, that too in Lithuania.

I had this vision, I want to fight in Lithuania one day. Bring the UFC to Lithuania, and I would love to rematch Manon or anybody for the belt, whatever. That’s my dream come true, but anything that the UFC has in mind, I’m cool with as well.
