UFC Brazilian fighter taking cigarette break after fight gets surprised with $50K bonusĀ 

UFC is the worldā€™s largest MMA promotion and a dream platform for many aspiring fighters. Similarly, Carlos Prates is only now making a name for himself in the promotion. As such, the fighter recently received his first fight bonus at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville.Ā Moreover, the Brazilian fighter was doing something ā€˜specificā€™ when he learned of the $50K bonus.

In a new viral video, Carlos Prates took a cigarette break with his team following the bout. At the exact moment, the fighter learned that he had gotten the Performance of the Night bonus. The Brazilian was overjoyed and celebrated the news by embracing his teammates. This demonstrates how important fight bonuses are for young and rookie fighters.

Other than Prates, three other fighters took home the Performance of the Night bonus, including Raul Rosas Jr, Zachary Reese, and Brunno Ferreira. However, the only finish that wasnā€™t given the bonus prize was the controversial finish by Nassourdine Imavov over Jared Cannonier in the main event.Ā 

Prates demonstrated his striking prowess against opponent Charlie Radtke in the welterweight division. He set up a perfectly placed knee to the body that dropped Radtke. This caused the referee to step in at the last minute of the first round. The win has given a lot of confidence to the fighter already making big claims.Ā

In the post-fight interview at UFC Louisville, Prates talked about applying his game plan and finishing his opponent. On top of it, the fighter called himself the ā€˜dark horseā€™ of the welterweight division.

I knew already he don’t like get too much kicks or punches in the body. So, I started to kick his legsā€¦.then I saw him a little bit hurt and then I finished the fight. Like I said, I’m the dark horse on this divisionā€¦.So, I’m ready to go.Ā

Carlos Prates is now 2-0 on the UFC roster and has won his previous nine professional fights, eight of which were finishes. This was a minor step up in competition, so it will be fascinating to see how Prates performs against more experienced opponents. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic performance.
