The California State Athletic Commission is one of the few combat sports regulators that still releases MMA fighter payouts. Meaning, the MMA clique now knows what Renato Moicano got for battling Islam Makhachev atop the UFC 311 PPV card. Noticeably, it’s a big one!
The Dagestani burned “Money” with an early submission to prove his pound-for-pound worth. Islam Makhachev chose to fall back on this to dispose of Moicano via submission (D’arce) – Round 1, 4:05. It was almost too easy for the champ to get the win. However, Renato Moicano got fair recognition (and big bucks) for stepping up.
Moicano is to earn $250,000 with no win bonus after he accepted a short-notice title clash after Arman Tsarukyan’s injury pullout. This includes a $32,000 fee per UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay to enter a challenger. Conversely, Islam Makhachev himself receives $200,000 as a flat fee for his fourth consecutive title defense!
Commission contracted amounts also don’t reflect any off-book bonuses and/or pay-per-view bonuses. So fret not – the dominant Dagestani can bank a seven-figure amount from PPV Sales! Moicano threw out non-legal tender spoof money and some feisty intentions to snag gold at media day. While he got a fair fighter compensation, he failed his rare and sudden title bid. It is one that he is not happy about.
Renato Moicano shares speech he had in mind for UFC 311, but ‘lost and stayed silent…’ after defeat
UFC 311 lightweight contender Renato Moicano had big plans for his moment in front of a microphone. The Team ATT veteran is infamous for cutting post-fight promos that thrill. A win over longtime reigning UFC 155-pound champ Islam Makhachev surely warrants one.
In-ring with PPV Live color commentator and micsman Joe Rogan, Moicano said this wasn’t a ‘short-notice’ opportunity. This was one lifetime in the making and he failed it. After Islam Makhachev ran through the late-replacement opponent at the UFC 311 PPV, he issued his first social media statement.
That’s sucks!!! For now I just want to win my next fight! Thank you ufc for the opportunity! Thank you God for my life!

A big supporter of Bitcoin, the 35-year-old wanted to dedicate his post-fight interview to cryptocurrency as a financial safeguard. “Money” followed up his tweet with one about that. Even before this, he went viral touting the Austrian economic movement, Ludwig von Mises, and the six lessons of the Austrian Economic School. The fighter will now aim to return as soon as possible and defeat his next opponent.
