Former NASCAR Cup series champion Kurt Busch has claimed that Tyler Reddick will be a future Cup champion. The two times Xfinity series champion replaced Busch in the No:45 car at the start of the 2023 season. Reddick’s TRD signing was fast-tracked to 2023 after veteran Busch was sidelined due to a concussion.

Since his arrival, Tyler Reddick has been the most impressive Toyota driver in the garage. He earned praise for his consistency and was the first TRD driver to secure playoff entry this season. In the 16 starts, he made so far this year further Top 5s and two Top 10s, along with the win at COTA. If not for some unfortunate incidents, he would have been a multi-race winner this season.

Kurt Busch, on his recent appearance in the ‘NASCAR Race-Hub’, told Shannon Spake that Reddick would become a Cup champion. He backed his prediction by pointing to his work ethic and commitment since joining the team. Busch also praised Reddick’s impressive runs in all different types of tracks in F1.

“Bottom line — Tyler Reddick is going to be a champion in this sport. I feel it. He’s just a dirt racer from California that runs 30 laps at a time and just goes 100 percent. He’ll find that right rhythm on all of the different tracks — short tracks, intermediates, superspeedways. But right now, we’ve got a road course master right now in Tyler Reddick,” Kurt Busch said.

Busch, who has been serving as mentor/ adviser for the 23XI since his accident, says the entire 23XI team was surprised by the former RCR driver. Busch added that he is proud of the way Reddick has been using the sims to refine his race craft and revealed Reddick had an extra session in sim ahead of COTA.  The No:45 car was victorious on the day.

“We know we have the right driver in Tyler Reddick, and he has surprised the heck out of all of us. And the number one thing, the number one thing is his work ethic. I am so proud of the way that he jumps in the sim and he puts in the laps. He literally asked for an extra session before going to COTA because he felt like there was more time that he could gain in a certain section,” Kurt Busch said.
