UFC Denver’s main event bout between Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez continued for five rounds. In the end, the former strawweight champion took home a unanimous decision victory. However, for Cortez, the loss was rather humiliating, with her fake eyelashes being knocked aside by Namajunas.
Going into the fight, Cortez had replaced Maycee Barber and had an opportunity to take home a win against Rose Namajunas. Nevertheless, the fighter was dominated by Namajunas, who showed her that there are levels to this game. The incident that got the attention of fans took place in the first round.
Namajunas landed a right, which dropped Cortez on her back, and her fake eyelashes flew out of her left eye. In between the rounds, when the camera got a close-up shot of Cortez, the missing eyelash was further visible. On the other hand, Namajunas failed to finish the fight on the ground. However, the skill difference was quite visible.
From the get-go, ‘Thug Rose’ stuck to her in-and-out strategy of connecting as much as possible on Cortez. She also had various successful takedowns, creating a threat on the ground and feet for Cortez. After five rounds, Namajunas got her hands raised. Nevertheless, as expected, knocking out Cortez’s fake eyelashes stole the show.
