Tom Aspinall, the current UFC interim heavyweight champion, is eager to solidify his status by unifying the title. However, the British star faces a significant obstacle in Jon Jones, the reigning champion, who remains reluctant to accept the fight. Frustrated by the lack of progress, Aspinall has resorted to publicly mocking Jones in an effort to pressure him.
Aspinall has a great respect for Jones as a fighter, but that doesn’t change the fact that he wants Jones’ throne. He has used interviews and social media to make fun of ‘Bones’ and called him out for ducking. In a recent addition to this feud, Aspinall posted a hilarious picture of Jones on Christmas.
Initially, Aspinall wanted to fight Jones at UFC 309 and had the fan support as well. However, Dana White gave Stipe Miocic his last fight in the promotion. It was a cakewalk for Jones, who won the fight via TKO. After that, the heavyweight champion mentioned his intentions to fight Alex Pereira instead of Aspinall.

According to Jones, Tom Aspinall isn’t as popular as Alex Pereira and it won’t add much to his legacy. However, many experts including Aspinall believe that this is just a way for Jones to lobby and get more money out of the UFC. Nevertheless, all things will be clear as UFC enters its 2025 campaign.
UFC legend predicts Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall
Jon Jones is undoubtedly one of the GOATs in MMA and has fought some of the most dangerous fighters in history. He is well known for his fighting IQ and the ability to win at any cost. However, at the age of 37, and at a much heavier weight, it might be hard for Jones to perform the same.
On the other hand, Tom Aspinall is a hungry fighter, who has incredible speed and movement for a heavyweight fighter. As a challenger, Aspinall is way tougher than Stipe Miocic or Alex Pereira. Demetrious Johnson talked about the same in a podcast and mentioned why it’s going to be hard for Jones.
Dana White recently confirmed that the fight between Jones and Aspinall is in the works and the announcement will happen soon. Jon Jones is expected to take home a hefty amount and possibly retire from fighting. All these questions are intriguing and will be answered next year.
