Gervonta Davis' coach warns Sean O'Malley

Right now, Sean O’Malley is one of the UFC’s biggest stars. The bantamweight champion is immensely popular and is skilled at attracting new fans. The fighter enjoys being the star of the show and has no problem picking fights with other combat sports athletes. This also applies to boxers like Gervonta Davis, whom O’Malley believes he can defeat in the future.

Sean O’Malley recently sat down with his coach Tim Welch for their YouTube podcast. During the conversation, Welch talked about a potential fight between O’Malley and Gervonta Davis. Responding to it, ’Suga’ joked about Davis having an absurd fight clause. On top of it, O’Malley claimed that he would knock out ‘Tank’.

They will put a clause that I would had to be 5’8” when I walked in there. I can weigh-in at 5’11” but I gotta be 5’8” when I walk in there. I’m like I can’t do that. I thought that would get more chuckles…. we’re done with that boxing bull***, I will knock Gervonta out.

O’Malley has always wanted to try his luck in boxing just like Conor McGregor. Additionally, Suga disclosed that if he were to win a few more UFC fights, he might have sufficient influence to negotiate a deal with the organization that would enable him to box. Though Dana White dislikes his fighters discussing boxing, it won’t come as a surprise if O’Malley receives special treatment.

Given the circumstances, it’s expected to see O’Malley making his moves and dissing Davis in order to get a reaction. Other than Davis, O’Malley also has his eyes on Ryan Garcia. Both recently argued over a video call and verbally agreed to fight each other in the future. While O’Malley’s dream of fighting boxers is very ambitious, many don’t think that’s a good idea.

Gervonta Davis’ coach dismisses Sean O’Malley’s chances to fight against the boxer

In an effort to get a hefty fight purse, retired MMA legends have recently taken part in several exhibition matches. It seems like Sean O’Malley has the same strategy going forward. But instead of waiting for his retirement, he wants to do it as soon as possible. Well, this wasn’t the first time he has challenged Gervonta Davis to a boxing match.

The last time O’Malley made a call out, Davis’ coach Kenny Ellis had a befitting reply. Ellis revealed that it would be an easy fight for ’Tank’. According to the coach, MMA fighters don’t have the right technique to throw punches in a boxing bout.

Tank would whoop his a*s, in the first round. Any top lightweight would beat him…. He’s not a boxer. He don’t have professional punches. He’s an MMA fighter. They don’t perfect punches like boxers

Gervonta Davis recently successfully defended his lightweight title against Frank Martin via KO in the eighth round. After the fight, he encountered Ryan Garcia wearing a “rematch me b***tch” t-shirt. During the press conference, he even mentioned that he is ready to knock out Garcia again in a rematch. With O’Malley being in the equation with both Garcia and Davis, it would be interesting to see if he gets to fight anybody in the future.
