Sean Strickland calls out UFC's corporate culture

Sean Strickland recently made some new enemies in the world of combat sports. Ahead of his fight at UFC 302, Strickland talked about the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. The fighter mentioned that BKFC doesn’t adequately pay their fighters and he would never fight under the BKFC banner. However, this has not sat well with former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez.

Recently, Alvarez appeared on The MMA Hour show where he talked about several things. Alvarez also responded to Strickland’s criticism of the promotion by claiming that he makes more than the former middleweight champion.

I thought it was cute of him to say something about payment. He probably does well in the UFC, but like, I make more than Sean Strickland, I fight bare-knuckle. Hey motherf*****, they pay, they pay more than you’re getting paid.

‘The Underground King’ made his BKFC debut last April against former UFC fighter, Chad Mendes and won by split decision. After eight months, the 40-year-old fought the BKFC king, Mike Perry. However, this time he failed to win and was knocked out in the second round. However, according to Alvarez’s comments, he is probably doing pretty well in the promotion.

On the other hand, Sean Strickland recently found himself in limbo after UFC approached him with the Paulo Costa fight. According to Strickland, the fight purse was significantly less which led the fighter to initially reject the fight. Nevertheless, it was definitely not the first time Sean Strickland ever voiced his opinions about the UFC fighter’s pay.

Sean Strickland blasts UFC for its fighter’s pay

Sean Strickland is an out-and-out company man and is always ready to fight anybody that UFC asks him to. However, the 33-year-old doesn’t mind calling out the promotion for their lack of accountability. Recently, ahead of his fight at UFC 302, the ’Tarzan’ went off on the fighter’s pay.

While talking with Daniel Cormier, the former middleweight champion mentioned how hard it is to convince UFC to do something right.

If you go look at what these guys that run [the UFC] you see what they’re making to what guys get paid.  It’s f**** s***, dude. The UFC does not do the f**** right things, and unless you hold them at f**** gunpoint, they ain’t gonna f***** do it. That’s all f**** business these days. All these f***** corporation leeches.

Sean Strickland lost his UFC title in his first-ever title defense at UFC 297. This must have significantly affected his fight purse, which might be the reason for his disagreement with UFC. Now, after his win at UFC 302, the fighter is focused on getting his title shot and is ready to play the waiting game.
