Noah Lyles reveals he tested positive for COVID-19 before the Olympic 200m final

Team USA winning their semifinal against Serbia means the Americans are firmly in pole position to win gold at the Paris Olympics. The expectation from American fans is that any athlete wearing the stars and stripes should win gold.

Especially if one is a clear favorite to do that. This is why, after winning the game, which confirms at least a silver, USA Basketball decided to take a shot at Noah Lyles.

The American sprinter ended with a bronze medal in the 200-meter race. After the race, he was wheelchaired away from the event and it was understood that Noah Lyles was affected by COVID. But it seems, that USA Basketball ignored that fact while taking a shot at Lyles in their winning post on their official X account.

We don’t play for Bronze.
USA Basketballโ€™s caption for the post read

It was a clear shot at the sprinter for disappointing after hyping himself up before the event. It seems the American contingent is not happy with his performance.

Noah Lyles, as usual, had talked about how he would demolish runners en route to a gold in that discipline. He had also hyped up the crowd before the race started. It could be that the American Olympic committees took note of all that trash talk and have not have the goods show for it probably didnโ€™t sit well.

First I want to thank God for getting me through this entire Olympics. I want to thank everyone for the supportive messages. I believe this will be the end of my 2024 Olympics. It is not the Olympic I dreamed of but it has left me with so much Joy in my heart.
Noah Lyles wrote in his social media posts

Lyles knows all too well that he cannot participate in the 4x100m relay. After all, the Coronavirus virus has an adverse effect on any athlete.

Contracting COVID virus can make any human being feel weak and unable to be at their best. That has a multiplying effect on athletes. Then comes asthma, which Noah Lyles has. All in all, he does not have the wind in him to continue.
