Stephen Curry is coming off one of the most defining moments of his life as a basketball player. Despite finishing his season early with the Golden State Warriors, he was still in top form when his country needed him. The 4-time NBA champion took on the task of helping Team USA Basketball win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics.

Recently, the gold medalist talked about his favorite Bible verse and how it has helped him so far. Curry appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about the Olympic Games, among other things. When asked by host Stephen Colbert about what the Philippians 4:13 verse on his Instagram bio meant to him, Curry had quite the take.

That’s my source of strength and determination, and my purpose, really. Because you know, like anything that you do in life, is going to require that underlying faith in yourself and the belief that you can conquer anything… So, Philippians 4:13 was for me, and I still write it on my shoes to this day.

Faith in God was likely something Curry learned to imbibe while growing up. According to the NBA star, that verse has become a means of encouragement for him over the years. Stephen Curry also recalled his mother making him choose a personal Bible verse, while still a freshman in college. It is therefore a part of his teenage years that has stayed till this day and one he really holds dear.

Stephen Curry revealed LeBron Jamesโ€™ support helped resurrect shooting game

Another talking point amongst fans during the Olympics was centered on poor shooting form of Curry in the group games. On the same show, Colbert asked Curry what helped him to bounce back from his shooting slump after the initial games. To that question, the NBA superstar gave an interesting answer.

I was doing an interview with one of the guys from Bay Area. And when he asked me the same question, positive self-talk came out. I was like, ‘Nah, we’re winning, I know a flurry is coming’. As soon as I said it, Bron walks right behind me, he’s like ‘Damn right it is’, with his baritone voice.

It shows that whatever rivalry LeBron James and Curry have had over the years, their mutual respect remains. It also seems James knew it wouldnโ€™t be long before the point guard started shooting lights out again.

The Warriors star then jokingly added that it was difficult to like James during their time on Team USA. However, he acknowledged that respect and friendship will not come in the way of their rivalry when it resumes in the new season.
