There was much confusion regarding the severity of Conor McGregor‘s injury which forced him to pull out of the Michael Chandler fight. The Irishman had recently shared an X-ray of his broken pinky toe along with a regular picture of the bruise on social media. Although the UFC star later deleted the pictures, it was caught by a sports doctor who gave his expert diagnosis on the severity of the injury.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Dr. Brian Sutterer closely analyzed Conor McGregor‘s X-ray and shared his diagnosis. According to the doctor, as trivial as McGregor’s injury may look his pullout from UFC 303 was warranted.

Was this an injury warranted of McGregor withdrawing? Yeah, I think so… yes, it’s a pinky toe. I’m sure he’s gonna get all kinds of hate online about withdrawing because of a broken pinky toe. But as pinky toe fractures go, that’s a pretty good one.

Dr. Stutterer revealed that McGregor’s fracture line goes obliquely through the shaft of his pinky toe. He shared that there is a little displacement on his toe’s proximal phalanx. According to him, it is unlikely that McGregor needed surgery for that isolated toe fracture.

McGregor recently uploaded a post on his Instagram page. There he addressed his withdrawal from UFC 303 and why there was no reason for him to step in with an injury. The post was meant to deter the many critics who think he has gone soft both mentally and physically.

I couldn’t justify to my team, or fans, that I make the walk hindered again. That walk has been seen. This next walk has got to be, and it will be, 100% Conor McGregor. The fans deserve it and we are getting close.
