His move to featherweight follows a successful run at bantamweight, where he held the title and defended it against top contenders like Petr Yan and Henry Cejudo.
Facing Evloev, an undefeated fighter, is a critical step in his journey of establishing himself as a force in the featherweight division. However, the fight buildup has been intense. Sterling has levied accusations against Evloev, suggesting potential PED use, although no evidence has surfaced. Sterling insisted that he has faced opponents using performance-enhancing substances in the past and would not let it step his way towards victory.
