Days after PFL: Battle of the Giants PPV (DAZN/ESPN+) took place, Dana White fielded claims made by Donn Davis. The PFL Co-owner had stated they leapfrog UFC in certain statistical categories (Hint, hint…best heavyweight in MMA). The UFC bossman could care less about the dinosaur-dragon, “potatoes-potatohs” pish posh. But White does not take such claims hat in hand. Now he slammed the rivals with claims of his own. One guess as to who is the collateral? U.S. VP/Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
What started as a correlation in premier names in global MMA has now turned more than sour. Dana White’s UFC and Donn Davis have been squabbling about talent acquisitions and pay differences for long. Now, White didn’t agree that statistically, PFL could be anything but less than second fiddle. Surprisingly, he came prepared with a printout, rattling off statistical comparisons between Power Slap and PFL!
In an interview Wednesday with MMAFighting for SBN, Donn Davis said that he does not heed anything MMA other than his own brand. Right now, he does not need to. Friday night PFL just saw lineal MMA heavyweight Francis Ngannou make a splash, rather than Saturday night UFC on ESPN+ and ESPNNews pay-per-view. After a laundry list of statistics on social media posts and views, White took issue with Davis’ interview.
The fact that he would tout his brainchild slap-fighting was no big surprise. But now, an ardent Donald Trump supporter, he took the war to Kamala Harris again. Harris’ PR team also recently caught flak for allegedly trying to rig premeditated queries on the viral ‘Joe Rogan Experience‘ podcast. That’s according to Valuetainment host Patrick Bet-David. Now, White slammed alleged ‘blabbermouth’ PFL for not even surpassing Power Slap metrics.
Dana White: PFL does not even compete with Power Slap, let alone his UFC
Power Slap is under the sanctions of the Nevada State Athletic Commission and is a sporting brainchild of Dana White. With how much he is enthusiastic about it, it gives ‘top pound-for-pound best fighter’ Jon Jones a run for his glazy worth. Not long ago, White touted on “The Pete and Sebastian Show” Podcast – EP 603 that Power Slap surpassed its value beyond $750 million in just a year. Hear him talk about it and one just knows how proud he is of it.
He said that the social metrics and media packs exceed those of the giants like the NFL, NBA, and home show boxing. It once outsold Taylor Swift and her “The Blank Space” reel by 10 million views in just a week! Meanwhile, the UFC bossman recently scoffed at Donn Davis and his two-for-one selling packages at PFL. Yet again, White went to war with the media scrum over the greatness of his associations and the futility of rivals.
Even with NAC Chairman Stephen Cloobeck retracting his stance, the gimmicky sport has been one for ages. Many former haters and detractors now agree that slapfighting makes it easy for combat sports commissions to leap over the chances of injuries. Many former MMA talents and heartthrobs are even crossing over to the sport and/or keeping an association. All in all, White just dismissed that PFL can even compete with this, let alone UFC as a whole.
