Brazilโs contribution to MMA is gigantic to say the least. Some of the Brazilian fighters like Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo are arguably the GOATs of the sport. Charles Oliveira and Alex Pereira are big superstars worldwide. However, football (Soccer in the USA) is Brazilianโs first love. As such, football superstar Neymar is the most famous and richest athlete.
Neymar supports thousands of underprivileged youth through his annual charity auction, Instituto Projeto Neymar. Interestingly, the โCharles Oliveira Experienceโ was available at the auction, for a modest price. Surprisingly, Russian businessman Roman Shpigel won the bid for the experience for a whopping $95K, just short of six figures.
As part of the experience, Shpigel will be part of the training camp for Oliveiraโs next fight at Chute Boxe Diego Lima in Sao Paulo. He will watch the former lightweight champion cut weight and be part of Team Oliveira after the weigh-ins of his next fight. Moreover, he will also get two tickets for the event where Oliveira fights next. The deal is irrespective of the location.
Nonetheless, the charity of Neymar was a success as it generated $5.1 million. Neymar had already donated a similar amount for the Rio Grande do Sul floods where UFC middleweight Michel Pereira was part of rescue operations.
Netizens react to $95K bid for โCharles Oliveira Experienceโ at Neymarโs charity auction
Most of the athletes from Brazil are from underprivileged backgrounds. Many of them have lived in the favelas in poverty. As such, when they have achieved fame and money, they never have second thoughts about the upliftment of their community. Neymarโs annual charity auction is one such endeavor.
The auction was a tremendous success but what caught the eye of the MMA fans was a certain โCharles Oliveira Experienceโ sold for just $5k short of six figures. See how fight fans reacted to the $95k winning auction below.
Oliveiraโs recent fight was against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300, which he lost via split decision. Oliveira has angled for a matchup with Conor McGregor recently. Colby Covington had called out Oliveira too. Nonetheless, Oliveiraโs next appearance will likely be on a PPV main card, as has been the case since he fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 256.
