“Sorry if that offends any of you guys!” After Caleb Williams faced hefty backlash, Duke star Jared McCain publicly flaunts some blue and white nail polish

Is it so wrong for boys to paint nails? Take, for instance, USC star quarterback Caleb Williams, who became the subject of ridicule for wearing pink nail polish. Williams recently found support from Duke basketball star Jared McCain.

The 20-year-old, who started painting his nails back in October 2023 per Complex, claimed this is his way of taking care of himself. In a recent TikTok video that surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), following Caleb Willaims‘ recent backlash, McCain reiterated his stance once more.

Just do some self-care time. I think everyone should do self-care of themselves. For me, it’s nail painting. I’m sorry if that offends any of you guys. I thought it looked nice, and I know a lot of people disagree. A lot of people don’t like it. I’m just going to [be] myself and do what I think looks nice.
Jared McCain said.

To rub salt in the hypothetical wounds of critics, McCain announced he had signed a deal with Sally Hansen. Even before that, he was earning $1.1 million through his NIL deal.

Jared McCain wants people to be comfortable with their appearance, like Caleb Williams

McCain’s video was a direct response to the recent controversy surrounding Williams. He was in attendance when the USC basketball team advanced to the Sweet 16. The 22-year-old opted for a causal yellow drip and painted his nails pink.

This caused quite a commotion on social media, prompting RG3 to come to the young quarterback’s aid. However, it seemed he did not require it after all, because shortly after the social media meltdown, Caleb Williams shared a clip flaunting his nails.

McCain, during his interview with Complex, revealed one of the reasons for painting his nails because it helps him play the game better. He doesn’t bat an eye at what others think of it.

Never let somebody tell you what you can and can’t be. Doing the painted nails is kind of a part of me. The hate is funny because it’s usually grown [men] most of the time, and it’s like you’re a grown man just hating on a kid.
Jared McCain said.

Both Williams and McCain are budding superstars in football and basketball respectively. Similar to Williams, who is projected to be the first pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, McCain, even in his freshman year, is a first-round prospect in the future NBA draft.
