Alex Pereira is one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster, and fans are always excited to see him back in the octagon. At UFC 311, it was finally announced that the Brazilian will defend his light heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev next. After the announcement, the challenger has already warned Pereira.
The Pereira vs. Ankalaev fight has been on the table for a long time now. It almost happened last year, but Pereira fought Khalil Rountree instead. Given his dominance on the feet, many fans and experts wanted to see ‘Poatan’ go against a wrestler like Ankalaev. The challenger is hyped about the fight and has promised to finish the Brazilian at UFC 313.
Ankalaev and Alex Pereira have traded heated online jabs, escalating their feud into a high-stakes rivalry. The Russian has repeatedly dismissed Pereira’s dominance, expressing confidence in his ability to bring the Brazilian’s reign to an end. Surprisingly, Ankalaev announced he won’t use takedowns, a decision that has sparked intense debate among fans and experts alike.
You just sign your death certificate I’m gonna punish you for ducking me and I’m gonna make you look like a guy work in a tire shop not professional Fighter
— Magomed Ankalaev (@AnkalaevM) January 20, 2025
Pereira’s striking prowess is second to none and he proved that by knocking three of his opponents in 2024. One of the biggest reasons fans believe in Ankalaev it was due to his wrestling threat. However, with his weird claims and recent lackluster performance, the public sentiment has definitely shifted. It would be interesting to see whether anybody will be able to stop Pereira this year.
Former two-time rival wants to take on Alex Pereira again
Jiri Prochazka recently fought Jamahal Hill at UFC 311 with Alex Pereira present on the octagon side. Going into the clash, both fighters were not on friendly terms, and it was evident as soon as the bell rang. It was a competitive fight in the beginning but the ‘Samurai’ ended it in the third round via a TKO finish.
Prochazka also won the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus award for the win. After the fight, Prochazka didn’t waste time before calling out Alex Pereira for a fight. The third time’s a charm and the Czech superstar is ready to prove that.
Prochazka and Pereira have fought each other twice, and the ‘Samurai’ has tasted failure in both fights. Despite his strong motivation and weird fighting style, he has never been able to give ‘Poatan’ any trouble. However, fans are currently excited to see the light heavyweight champion back in action against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313.
