UFC HOF and Olympian Wrestler Daniel Cormier is famous for his warm behavior towards others in all spheres. He’s just a treat to be around. But once in a while, he lets the rage out; ‘DC’ wasn’t gonna sit idle while Joaquin Buckley took shots at his and his colleagues’ judgments. What has resulted is the start of the weirdest clash ever!

Joaquin Buckley impressively edged out Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC on ESPN 56 this past weekend in St. Louis. ‘New Mansa’ issued a lengthy callout to Conor McGregor in his post-fight interview. The surging welterweight saw an opening as McGregor returns at 170 at UFC 303 (ESPN+). He faces Michael Chandler. The callout mostly fell flat as top brass shut it down quickly with McGregor’s reentry. Moreover, Daniel Cormier had pitched in.

That was horrible [the callout], how do you do that? I just don’t know what he was doing….Then he goes and he calls Conor McGregor’s mom a bad name. It couldn’t have gotten worse…. It was bad…

On a recent episode of their weekly MMA show Good Guy/Bad Guy, both Chael Sonnen and Cormier ripped into his appalling callout. Consequently, even Michael Bisping weighed in that Joaquin Buckley is a rising star, but he went too far banking on it with the random callout. Buckley (19-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) is 4-0 since dropping to 170. A bonafide welterweight like Conor Mcgregor is the biggest name he can shoot, So he fired back.

Buckley has since accused Bisping, Sonnen, and Daniel Cormier of twisting his words. While he did go on a shrill poke at McGregor’s bloodline, it was meant as callout bait, nothing many others haven’t done 100 times over. Though on the defensive, even Buckley realized that his callout fell flat. He has since pivoted to Gilbert Burns instead. But hell hath no fury like ‘DC’ scorned.

Joaquin ‘New Mansa’ Buckley is one of the top exciting welterweight names right now, amongst a plethora of talents. A huge fan favorite for his explosive fighting style, Buckley impressed once again as he defeated Ruziboev en route to a 4-0 streak. Currently at #11, he is looking to move up. Hence, at UFC on ESPN 56, he called out one Conor McGregor – the PPV-rich superstardom.

McGregor makes his return at 170 in a five-round welterweight headliner at UFC 303 (ESPN+). After a three-year layoff, ‘The Notorious’ is prime meat and quite the strategic callout to make on reentering the roster. However, he still is ‘The Notorious’! It took Chandler to run through five top-ranking lightweights, a whole season of TUF: 32, and a year of haggling to bag a match. Hence, Daniel Cormier and others dubbed down the quality of this callout.

Shut up P*ssy! Maybe listen. You had a dumb ass call out. You’re getting talked about by 3 of the biggest voices in the game. Maybe listen. It was the worst call out in history. Don’t let winning at few fights at 170lbs get you too excited bruh. Don’t mention Audrey!

With Buckley firing back rather vibrantly, Cormier didn’t appreciate his comment, especially the diss at his colleagues and the reference to mothers. Cormier’s mother, Audrey, passed away in February 2022, and he holds a soft spot for it. Hence, he went nuclear.

Conor McGregor is already to fight Michael Chandler, making the call redundant. More so, the unlikely matchup has been graded ambitious but a bad pairing with Buckley just rising and McGregor just returning. Buckley understands that. But he takes issues with ‘DC’ and others picketing at the finer points of his callout to make it worse.

Former two-division champ Daniel Cormier’s fiery response prompted another from Joaquin Buckley, who clarified he wasn’t badmouthing Cormier’s mother but rather ‘DC’ himself. As of now, there’s no end to his blame game. The next post-fight octagon interview is going to get weird, for sure.
