In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Shraddha Kapoor poured her heart out about the challenges she faced during the filming of her debut movie, Teen Patti. She vividly recalled a moment of vulnerability on the second or third day of shooting when she reached a breaking point and confided in her mother, expressing her doubts about continuing in an industry she felt so unfamiliar with at just 20 or 21 years old.
The young actress didn’t shy away from sharing the harsh realities she encountered on set. She noticed a clear distinction in how individuals were treated based on their status in the industry. Those with established names received preferential treatment, while newcomers like herself often felt invisible or marginalized. Shraddha candidly revealed, “People were not always very nice. If you were considered a ‘somebody’, you were treated differently, but if you were a ‘nobody’, you were often brushed aside.”
As Shraddha navigated through her ups and downs, she gradually found her footing and grew more confident with each project. Her transformative journey from Teen Patti to her breakout role in Aashiqui 2 taught her valuable lessons about empathy and compassion on set. She recognized the importance of extending understanding and support to newcomers and those finding their way in the industry, a mindset that shaped her interactions moving forward.
While Teen Patti may not have been a commercial success, Shraddha’s career trajectory took a significant turn with Aashiqui 2, a film that catapulted her to stardom alongside Aditya Roy Kapur under the direction of Mohit Suri. Since then, she has showcased her versatility in a range of projects such as Ok Jaanu, Ek Villain, Haseena Parker, Half Girlfriend, Chhichhore, Street Dancer 3D, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, solidifying her status as a versatile performer across different genres.
Most recently, Shraddha delighted audiences with her appearance in Stree 2, the sequel to the successful horror-comedy Stree (2018). The film, also starring Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi, emerged as a top earner at the box office in 2024, further cementing Shraddha’s position as a powerhouse in the industry.
