Stephen Curry remains an extremely popular player in the NBA. As a result, his games with the Golden State Warriors are well followed by fans. Not only that, but his scoring celebrations have also gained widespread recognition. Except that it has annoyed some opponents, one of which happens to be former NBA star Ty Lawson.

While speaking recently on “Raw Room” podcast, Lawson talked about the toughest players he faced in the league. He then recalled the time his team played against Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

Steph Curry was tough too. When he heats up, he gets disrespectful with it too. He started doing the shimmy, the shimmy was like pissed me off at first. It was against us when he started turning around and he shot it in the right corner. I was looking at the ball and looking at him and he was like BOOM… Splash… nobody seen that before.

According to him, playing against Curry wasn’t easy as he turned out difficult to handle. The shooting guard scored a three-pointer in the game and celebrated with his shimmy dance, which Lawson didn’t find funny. Despite that, the former Nuggets player gave a shoutout to Curry, hailing his gameplay.

Curry’s shooting skills have seen him widely regarded as arguably the greatest shooter of all time. His pivotal performances at the Paris Olympics with Team USA further strengthened his stellar reputation. It’s something the Warriors are aware of, which made them tie him down with a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension.

The extension will keep him through the 2026-27 season, a huge testament to his consistent performances. He becomes the latest NBA player to join this elite group, just behind superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

The franchise will lean heavily on Stephen Curry next season, especially after the departure of Klay Thompson to the Mavericks. With the Western Conference getting more hotly contested, Golden State faces a challenging battle to stay in playoff contention. As such, his teammates would need to step up as well for the team to put up a good challenge.

Stephen Curry had previously stated that he wished to see out his entire career with the Warriors. This new deal brings him closer than ever to achieving that dream. No doubt, his impressive career statistics including 4 NBA Championships, ten All-Stars amongst others, also justify it.
