With only four teams remaining in the Men’s basketball competition at the Paris Olympics, Team USA led by LeBron James and KD will face off against Nikola Jovic and Team Serbia. The USA has been on an impressive run in the tournament, sweeping aside all opponents they have encountered so far. As a result, they have now been drawn against the Serbians in the semifinals of this year’s edition.
However, the coach of Serbia’s men’s basketball team, Svetislav Pesic, has expressed his admiration for the current American national team. Ahead of the game, he remarked that his side was playing against the best national team in the history of basketball.
We’re playing against an exceptional team, the best in the history of national team basketball, to me. The Americans no longer present only that exceptional individual quality, they have meanwhile grown as a team. We respect that, but we also respect ourselves.
While speaking to local media recently, Svetislav Pesic said
The Serbia coach also stated that while the USA are a formidable opponent, his team are not afraid of them or any other side. He further argued that they (Serbia) are among the four best teams in the competition, and their major goal is winning an Olympic medal at the Paris Olympics.
We are not afraid. We want to play a good game. The fact that we are among the four best teams is a huge success in itself… we came here not to do our best but to dedicate ourselves to winning an Olympic medal.

Serbia rallied back from a huge 24-point deficit against top-ranked Australia on Tuesday, to eventually emerge the winners of that quarter-final tie. Now, they are set to face a much difficult opponent in Team USA, which boosts the likes of NBA stars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and others on their roster.
