Controversial MAGA figure Valentina Gomez, however divisive, has won more than her fair share of followers. But UFC loudmouth and brash middleweight Sean Strickland following the congressional candidate was on nobody’s list. Unsurprisingly (or maybe a bit surprising that Strickland is paying close watch), Strickland turns out to be a fan, of sorts.

Looking at Valentina Gomez’s political rhetoric, one would think she and Strickland were made for each other. Gomez’s far-right views are no less than “radical” and have caused waves. Her campaign was full of anti-LGBTQ+ content online. One video of her reading LGBTQ+ books had a stance with a flamethrower! Recently, the political animal from Jersey City, New Jersey touted her “Accolades.”

The most qualified incoming member of Congress.

She has had massive media attention for her polarizing online antics. Despite that, Valentina Gomez drew a short draw. In the Republican primaries, Valentina Gomez received just 7.4% of the vote, finishing sixth out of eight. But it caught the attention of one UFC “Tarzan”.

The unhinged Sean Strickland hardly tolerates women or WMMA “catfights” as he calls it. He does not even consider empathizing with LGBTQ+ options in any spectrum at all. Hence, he acknowledged these with the best traits he could spot.

Biological female…

Although dragging around the MAGA lines, the fighter has often bashed Donald Trump’s closest confidants for their affiliations or inclinations. Strickland’s socio-political choices hinting at anti-women and minimal gender choices had taken weird turns before as well. But this is a new “new” even by Sean Strickland standards. Yet – this is not where the camaraderie ends.

It’s hard to find an avid Sean Strickland fan that aligns with how he thinks. It is because how he thinks most often does not pump the brakes of homophobic slurs, ethnic/religious connotations, and even straining a hard mainstream supremacy of ideals. However, he also has an unlikely ally in Valentina Gomez.

Gomez was born in Medellin, Colombia on 8 May 1999. By 2009, her family had immigrated to the United States, settling in Jersey City, New Jersey. Gomez ran for Missouri Secretary of State in 2024, launching her political career. She presents herself as a no “bulsh*t” gender-segregation-hating, “illegal aliens” damning person.

It’s a journey that has made her quite the mainstream Miss “Americano” – the likes of which Strickland would like. But that mutual respect goes both ways. Further reading on the X thread reveals that Gomez is also a fan of Sean Strickland. With the kind of far-right sentiments ‘Tarzan’ has been spewing, it’s no biggie. She even wished him luck for his next UFC 185-pound title affair.

Strickland (29-6 MMA, 16-6 UFC) rematches middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 312 PPV headliner. The pair first met at UFC 297 almost a year ago, with DDP narrowly taking the belt via split decision.

Maybe his charged socio-political stance helps after all. Strickland’s plea about Canadian leftists leaving him dry with a controversial scorecard did end up with enough buzz for a title rematch. The world works in weird ways; it gets weirder when “Tarzan” enters political threads.
