The tension between Sean Oโ€™Malley and Conor McGregor is rising by the second. It all started when the Irishman went after โ€˜Sugaโ€™ for a past positive drug test. Thus, UFC superstar Oโ€™Malley issued a brazen social media callout to none other than Conor McGregor. This is a move that should surprise absolutely no one.

The brash bantamweight champion took to X to ask for a private jet to get to Conor McGregor. He intended to have a sparring session with him. His cryptic message came just a day after McGregor launched an expletive-laced tirade against a select few fighters. ย

McGregor is set to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303. He recently went off on boxer Ryan Garcia and Sean Oโ€™Malley. This event was precipitated by Garcia flailing his drug test for a banned substance called Ostarine. McGregor was livid and called out both Garcia and Oโ€™Malley for being drug cheats. It must be noted that Oโ€™Malley had tested positive for the same substance in 2018.

Oโ€™Malley is coming off an incredible performance over Marlon Vera. Whether his bold callout leads anywhere remains to be seen. The most likely outcome will have McGregor and Oโ€™Malley engage in a sparring bout. The duo will never collide in the UFC as both fighters remain far apart in terms of weight classes. As such, no cause remains to entertain the thoughts of Oโ€™Malley vs. McGregor happening inside the UFC octagon.

USADA may have cut ties with the UFC, but their anecdotes remain. Sean Oโ€™Malley has firsthand experience when it comes to banned substances in MMA. The UFC superstar tested positive for Ostarine in 2018, resulting in a USADA suspension, but he took this suspension in a surprisingly positive way.

Oโ€™Malley displayed a measured perspective rather than lashing out at the anti-doping agency. He chalked up USADAโ€™s hard stance to a lack of scientific understanding of Ostarineโ€™s performance-enhancing effects. Suga believed they lacked the reasoning to know the dosage to get those effects.

I think they’re trying to do their bestโ€ฆI still don’t think it’s 100 picograms, that’s what it’s at right now. I think that’s still such a low number, but they don’t know the science enough to where it’s performance enhancing and when it’s a tainted supplement and it’s doing anything for you.

Oโ€™Malley took accountability and admitted that Ostarine entered his system via a contaminated supplement, as he initially claimed. He harbored no obvious ill will toward USADA for upholding its rules, even if those rules lacked some nuance. Suga displayed the poise of a true professional. Oโ€™Malleyโ€™s mature reaction may inspire reform rather than defiance as the anti-doping movement evolves.
