Walking out of WWE has been very beneficial for former WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. Not only did she wrestle around the world, but Banks also opened herself up to multiple acting roles. Recent reports suggest that The Boss might be in the discussion for a role in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. She will be joining Latin music sensation and WWE enthusiast Bad Bunny in the cast.
Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of WWE in April of last year. The reason is that both women were not happy with the creative direction and storylines. Now going by Mercedes Mone, Banks debuted in NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom in January. On the other hand, Naomi debuted in Impact Wrestling under her original name, Trinity Fatu, in April 2023.
The latest report from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Mercedes Varnado is being considered for a role in the upcoming movie. The movie will be a spinoff of Spider-Man named “El Muerto”. It will also feature Bad Bunny, who will have a significant role in it.
The film was supposed to release in January 2024, but Sony recently announced that this would not happen. The ongoing writers’ strike was sighted as the reason behind the delay. The shooting of the movie has not yet begun. Therefore, nothing can be said about the exact schedule of the movie featuring Bad Bunny and Sasha Banks.
Bad Bunny is a well known lifelong WWE fan and has also made numerous appearances in the company. His latest appearance came at Backlash, when WWE went to Puerto Rico, which is Bunny’s home country. He wrestled Damian Priest in the night’s semi-main event in a San Juan Street Fight match.

Even during her time in the WWE, Banks was a part of multiple documentaries and shows. She also appeared on “The Broken Skull Sessions,” hosted by WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Banks gained fame from her role as Koska Reeves in the famous Disney+ series The Mandalorian. She was praised by fans as well as fellow wrestlers for her role in the series. The series introduced Sasha Banks to a new audience from the mainstream, who started following her wrestling career as well.
At the moment, the 31-year-old is out of action due to her ankle injury. She suffered the injury while wrestling Willow Nightingale at Resurgence in May 2023. Her timeline for return has not been disclosed yet. Hence, it remains to be seen what plans The Boss has in mind for her wrestling as well as acting careers.
