Saif Ali Khan’s name drops of Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Mirza Ghalib as his favorite poets in an old interview have become a beloved internet moment. But in a recent 2022 interview with Zoom, Saif reflected on that moment with a touch of self-awareness and humor.

“I think I’m on medication in that, let’s call it medication. I look like I’m on medication, but I’ve done so many interviews that I think I’ve been medicated on some of them. I’ve not been completely mentally all there sometimes,” Saif candidly shared. He went on to talk about the importance of being unpretentious and genuine, especially at a younger age, a quality he sees in his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan.

“It’s unpretentious. I think I’ve been down to earth and quite a chill person…Now I’m much more pretentious because there’s an age for it,” Saif mused, acknowledging the evolution of one’s persona over time. He shared his pride in being his authentic self in that old interview, even if it may have seemed a bit unconventional.

Saif also humorously recalled how he once mentioned his family’s love for poetry, only to playfully retract his statement, saying, “I am talking totally rubbish.” He admitted to exploring Western poetry during his studies abroad but highlighted his father’s admiration for Faiz as a phenomenal poet.

Despite the light-hearted banter, Saif remains a versatile actor, last seen in Devara alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR. Through his interviews and roles, he continues to captivate audiences with his charm and wit, proving that authenticity and a touch of humor always leave a lasting impression.
