The UFC lightweight division is arguably one of the most exciting divisions in the promotion. Currently, several fighters are rising through the ranks with impressive performances. Renato Moicano and Paddy Pimblett are two notable names on this list. Given their reputations as fighters, the potential clash between them has become one of the most anticipated topics in the community.

Moicano recently fought at the UFC Paris fight night, where he decisively defeated fellow competitor Benoit Saint-Denis. Months later, the Brazilian fighter commented on the potential matchup between Pimblett and Saint-Denis. In his remarks, Moicano made an intriguing allegation about the UFC seemingly protecting Pimblett if the promotion were to arrange a fight between him and Saint-Denis.

If (UFC books Pimblett vs. Saint Denis), it’s just gonna show everybody that they were not willing to risk Paddy Pimblett against ‘Money’ Moicano… And I don’t even dislike Paddy Pimblett, you know…. Unfortunately for him, he’s in my division and he’s a big profile, a lot of people watch him. And like you say, I want big fights, I want big checks.

‘Money’ Moicano has never been shy and has always been outspoken. After defeating Saint-Denis, he immediately expressed a desire to face Pimblett. Interestingly, Moicano has long admired the Scouser, as Pimblett enjoys significant popularity in the UFC community. This popularity generates a buzz around the Scouser’s fights, which is appealing to Moicano, who is always looking for big-money fights. That’s why he is eager to face Pimblett.

Interestingly, the 29-year-old British fighter has gained admiration and respect from many within the promotion, including UFC CEO Dana White, who has consistently praised Pimblett. As a result, Moicano believes that the promotion would not feel compelled to match Pimblett against formidable fighters. However, despite this, Pimblett continues to receive fight callouts from top lightweight contenders.

Mateusz Gamrot wishes for a fight against Paddy Pimblett

Like Paddy Pimblett, Polish fighter Mateusz Gamrot is a top prospect in the UFC lightweight division. However, Gamrot is currently ranked #8, while Pimblett is ranked #13. Since his promotional debut, Gamrot has stood out as one of the dominant fighters in the division. However, he recently suffered a shocking defeat against Dan Hooker.

After suffering a setback in his fight against Hooker, Gamrot has faded somewhat from the spotlight within the MMA community. Yet, he has recently made headlines by voicing his eagerness to step into the octagon against a specific opponent who has been generating quite a buzz: the undefeated lightweight sensation, Pimblett.

Sounds great @PaddyTheBaddy ready?

Pimblett is coming off a recent victory against Bobby ‘King’ Green at UFC 304. Brimming with confidence, the Scouser believes in his abilities and claims that only Islam Makhachev could potentially defeat him in the promotion. It will be interesting to see how things develop for Pimblett moving forward.
